ISO/IEC 17025:2005 is an International Standard which sets out criteria for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. The edition of ISO/IEC 17025 referred to in this Document is 2005. This Standard is in particular used by National Accreditation Bodies for accrediting testing laboratories. The European Commission has extended the harmonisation status of the laboratory standard EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005. Accreditations that are based on this older version of the international standard and are not converted to the new version of the standard on schedule will now not lose their validity until 1 July 2021, as opposed to the earlier date of 1 January 2021. ISO 17025 accreditation certificate is issued by accreditation body, which is authorized by ILAC or APLC to provide accreditation under the ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
